Our Responsibility For Climate Action

Everything we create has an impact. At Wolven, being sustainable has always been about bringing intention to every step of the creative process — from sourcing our recycled and reclaimed materials, to delivering your Wolven’s to your doorstep. One of the ways we lessen our impact is by partnering with Eco-Cart to support carbon offset projects.

Carbon offsets are just one effective way to reduce the effects of climate change by funding a variety of projects such as renewable energy, forestry, or clean water infrastructure. These projects reduce emissions of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gasses in order to compensate for unavoidable emissions made elsewhere, like the emissions created from ordering something online. Thinking globally — if we are going to achieve net-zero carbon emissions outlined by the Paris Agreement by 2050, carbon offsetting plays a vital role.

Purchase Power

You have the power to make your order “Climate Positive” at checkout —which means you are 1) offsetting emissions from your Wolven order and 2) going beyond that offset and doubling your donations impact. All donations support the El Ejido Forest Project, a Climate Action Reserve verified project.

On November 24th, 2023, we are matching all donations to the project when you make your order Climate Positive at checkout.

The El Ejido Forest Project

The El Ejido Forest Project located in Mexico aims to mitigate, restore, and protect community managed forest resources. Under Mexico’s complex system of rural land ownership, community members made a decision to restore and sustainably manage the forest. Managed by the local “ejido”, the project has protected over 300 species of wildlife and plants. Over the next ten years, the project will capture an estimated 376,166 metric tons of carbon. Sustainable management of forests creates less impact on the ecosystem while contributing to extensive social and economic development.

The El Ejido Forest Project is verified by the Climate Action Reserve. The Climate Action Reserve encourages  action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by ensuring the environmental integrity and financial benefit of emissions reduction projects. It was founded in 2001 and establishes high quality standards for carbon offset projects, oversees independent third-party verification bodies, issues carbon credits generated from such projects and tracks the transaction of credits over time in a transparent, publicly-accessible system.
