Only 10% of all plastic has ever been recycled - let that sink it for a second. That means that all 90% of the single-use plastic in the world ends up in a landfill (or even worse, in our oceans). According to UNESCO, the intergovernmental oceanic commissions, “Plastic waste makes up 80% of marine pollution, and around 8 to 10 million metric tons of plastic end up in the ocean each year.” They estimate that there are currently around 50-75 trillion pieces of plastic and microplastics (plastic particles) in the ocean. This has detrimental effects on marine ecosystems, habitats and life as animals often ingest them or become entangled in them.
Today is Global Recycling Day, but everyday is Recycling Day for us here at Wolven. All of our activewear, swimwear and workwear is made from recycled water bottles to make our signature rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate). The production of our rPET fabric starts with the collection of water bottles, which are shredded into tiny flakes and washed. These tiny flakes are then processed to create pellets, which are then put through spinnerets to turn the pellets into yards of fabric. The rPET fabric is now ready to be cut and turned into our Wolven designs (each pair of Wolven leggings is made from 27 recycled plastic water bottles!)
How does our rPET fabric help the environment?
Aside from cutting down on waste from single use plastic, our rPET fabric helps the environment in other ways as well. Using an rPET fabric emits around 79% less emissions than creating a virgin polyester fabric. The energy used to create rPET fabric is about 33-53% less than what it is to produce virgin polyester.
Tips to alleviate the plastic crisis:
Happy Global Recycling Day to all and remember - change starts with you!
]]>-Sylvia Earle
In honor of International Women’s Day this year, we are spotlighting notable female environmentalists from past and present. Our hope is for these inspiring women to help you to believe that you are capable of anything, no matter what odds may be against and motivate you to cherish and protect our Earth.
Wangari Maathai
Maathai was a Kenyan environmental, social and political activist and was the first African woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize. After earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology, she became the first woman in East and Central Africa to earn a doctorate degree. Maathai founded the Green Belt Movement in 1977, an environmental organization that focused on sustainable land-use practices, environmental conservation, and women's rights. Wangari stressed that environmental change was more than planting trees, emphasizing the importance of “planting ideas” and promoting action to create change.
Vandana Shiva
Born in India in 1952, Shiva was a physicist and social activist. Shiva was an advocate for the preservation of biodiversity and most notably, fought against Asia’s Green Revolution, an international effort that began in the 1960s to increase food production in less-developed countries through the increased use of pesticides and fertilizers. Shiva believed that this effort had led to pollution, a loss of seed diversity and traditional agricultural knowledge. In response, Shiva established seed banks throughout India to preserve the country’s agricultural heritage while training farmers in sustainable agricultural practices.
Rachel Carson
Carson was a marine biologist and nature writer who authored the now-famous “Silent Spring” which exposed the truth about the use of chemicals and synthetic pesticides and the dangers associated with their use. Despite chemical companies attempting to discredit her by calling her a communist and a “hysterical woman”, Carson received medals from the National Audubon Society and the American Geographical Society and induction into the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Carson posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1980 and she is largely recognized as the mother of the modern environmentalist movement today.
Isatou Ceesay
Ceesay, known as the “Queen of Recycling” was born and raised in a small village in Gambia. As single-use plastic and pre-packaged food became more prevalent, Ceesay noticed a massive build-up of trash in her town. In 1977, Isatou founded the Recycling Centre of N’Jau, now renamed the Gambia Women’s Initiative. The focus of this project was to educate fellow villagers on the importance and benefits of plastic recycling but over the years the project has expanded to empower marginalized poor women to support their families by selling purses and bags made from recycled plastic.
Marina Silva
Known as “The Guardian of the Amazon”, Silva is a Brazilian politician and environmentalist and is currently Brazil’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change. Silva is extremely passionate about reducing deforestation in the Amazon and has dedicated her political career to this fight. As a result of her first stint as the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Silva reduced deforestation in the Amazon by 70%. However, Silvia still has a long fight ahead of her and has pledged to totally eradicate deforestation.
Sylvia Earle
Sylvia Earle was an American oceanographer that is credited with raising awareness of the threats that overfishing and pollution pose to the world's oceans. Earle led many ocean expeditions, including leading the first all-female expedition team. These expeditions brought light to the effects of pollution on the delicate coral reefs and ocean ecosystems. Earle went on to become the first woman to serve as the chief scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as well as National Geographic Society’s first female explorer in residence.
Vanessa Nakate
Nakate is a young Ugandan climate activist. Inspired by Sweden's Greta Thunberg, Vanessa began to take action against the climate crisis by protesting in front of the Ugandan parliament building. Vanessa has also spoken up about the power of Africa voices in response to an incident in which she was cropped out of a picture from a climate conference as she posed with white peers. Additionally, she has been one of the driving forces in a big campaign to save Congo's rainforest, which is facing massive deforestation.
Trend 1: Prints
If there is anything that Wolven nails it is creating bold and fun prints, and this just happens to be one of the trending looks of the 2024 festival season. The outfits this season will be centered around matching sets featuring loud colors and patterns. Nothing screams fun in the desert like our Zephyr print and we think it's the perfect set for the 2024 season. We love the color palette and the snake inspired print of Zephyr and know it will make your pictures in front of the Ferris wheel look amazing.
Trend 2: Sustainability
Sustainability is taking center-stage at festivals across the world this year. Festival-goers are emphasizing sustainable looks while also putting the pressure on festival organizers to take eco-friendly measures throughout the fairgrounds. This year’s festival attendees will see a decrease in single-use plastic and an increase in environmentally friendly festival infrastructure to name a few. Here at Wolven we have always taken sustainability seriously (after all, our clothing is made from recycled water bottles!) Our take on the sustainability trend is our Reverie 4-Way Crisscross Top (because nothing is more sustainable than one top that you can wear 4 different ways) paired with our Reverie Flare.
Trend 3: Coquette
The coquette aesthetic is strong right now and we are here for it. We love the feminine, soft and ethereal vibes of this look and know it's going to be a major force this festival season. After all, Lana Del Rey is headlining Coachella, and she is an iconic figure of this aesthetic. We foresee a lot of bows and lace this festival season. Our coquette look is our Amalfi Crisscross Four-Way Top and Amalfi flares paired with a perfect pink hair bow. This look perfectly encapsulates the flirty vibe of this trend and we are loving it.
Trend 4: 2000’s Rocker-Chic
Y2K style has been trending for a while now. While it has some millennials cringing as they recall the forgotten trends of the past, even millennials have to admit that this style is pure fun. Gwen Stefani is headlining at Coachella this year, which means we will be seeing a lot of the rocker chic look that is so synonymous with Gwen’s rebel style. Cargo pants aren't going anywhere and here at Wolven we are fully embracing that. Our 2000’s rocker inspired look features our new Eucalyptus Cargos paired with our Onyx Pyramid Bra. Throw a chunky leather belt over the cargos for an added Y2K touch.
Which trend are you most excited to wear this festival season?
]]>For World Wildlife Day we thought it would be cool to envision currently endangered animals in Wolven. We matched each animal with a print or color that we felt represented their unique vibe.
Blue Whale
The blue whale is the largest mammal on Earth weighing in at over 200 tons. The blue whale can be found in all the oceans on Earth, with the exception of the Arctic. Whales are at the top of the marine food chain and play a major role in ocean regulation. They even help to offset CO2 by just going through their natural life cycle (they capture carbon through in their bodies which is then stored in their bodies when they die). Whales are known for being peaceful and serene, which is why we chose to style the blue whale in our Juniper color. This gorgeous periwinkle blue hue definitely gives us ocean vibes and brings us a sense of calm.
Lion
The lion has been classified as a vulnerable species since 2008. Today lions inhabit only about 8% of their natural range, which has been largely decimated due to climate change and human land-use. When we think of the lion we think of power and pride. The lion symbolizes strength and ferocity, which is why we paired the lion with our Turmeric color. We love this bold tone and think it truly represents the lion’s fierce spirit.
Polar Bear
The polar bear is the largest and most aggressive of the bears. Living in frozen climates, polar bears rely on ice sheets for hunting and resting. The melting ice due to climate change is posing a major threat to the livelihoods of polar bears, causing polar bears to retreat into human habitats. We styled the polar bear in our Harmony print, which gives us chilly winter vibes. Also, polar bears have blue tongues, so we thought the pops of blue color in Harmony would be perfect.
Amur Leopard
The Amur leopard, which lives in Far Eastern Russia, is classified as critically endangered. This majestic leopard can run up to speeds of 37 mph and can jump 10 feet into the air. Unfortunately, this leopard is poached for its beautiful fur and sold in the illegal wildlife trade. Leopards are known to be illusive, rare and mysterious which is why we paired it with our Noor print. This print is dark, yet striking at the same time, just like a leopard.
Pacific Salmon
There are five species of salmon that live in the North Pacific waters of the US and Canada: chinook, coho, pink, sockeye, and chum salmon. Salmon play an important role in the lives of indigenous people, both culturally and as a food source, and are also a major food source for wild animals, such as bears and eagles. Pacific salmon are facing threats due to illegal harvesting, human land-use, development of mines, unregulated overharvesting and a rapidly changing climate. Salmon are known for their bright pink flesh, which is why we picked our Amalfi print to represent this iconic fish.
Koala
The cuddly and cute koala was officially declared endangered in 2022 after years of habitat loss due to drought, wildfires and human land-use has significantly reduced their habitat. It is predicted that koalas will be completely extinct by 2050 without urgent government action. Despite common myth, koalas are not actually bears, but are marsupials and have back-ward facing pouches. The main food source for koalas is eucalyptus leaves, which is why we had to style the koala in our Eucalyptus color. This hue definitely gives us Australian rainforest and is the perfect match for the adorable koala.
How To Help
1. Click here to support the FOREST Act to help fight illegal deforestation.
2. Become a Panda Ambassador with the World Wildlife Fund and help educate the public about the devastating effects of climate change.
3. Shop sustainably at Wolven and other companies that use environmentally- friendly fabrics.
1. What is your position at Wolven and what kind of work do you do?
I am the director of marketing and content. I am the gatekeeper for all things marketing and content which includes managing all digital advertising, social media marketing, influencer marketing, content creation, collection launches, events, PR, email marketing, copy, and more.
2. What is your favorite Wolven print?
Harmony, she’s so cute.
3. You are also an actress! Tell us about your acting career.
I am! My love for acting is something I am so grateful for. I fell in love with the magic of acting and the industry after watching Harry Potter at 8 years old. A good movie can save you on even your darkest of days, and I think that’s beautiful.
4. Which of your acting projects have you most enjoyed?
I have a movie called Players that actually premieres on Netflix today — that is a pride and joy of my career thus far. Gina Rodriguez was one of the most caring and charismatic humans I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I remember between takes when it was on my coverage, she would give me a heads up on how to position my head so I’m lit the best I could be, and that’s a rarity in our industry. For a lead actress to want everyone looking their best was a really special feeling.
5. What is your favorite place to travel to?
As stereotypical as it sounds — I fell in love with Paris.
6. New York or Los Angeles?
New York has my heart.
7. Favorite restaurant in New York?
For every day, Hole In The Wall <3. For special occasions, La Grenouille.
8. Dress up or keep it casual?
A little bit of both. I love to be comfy and then add an accent piece to my fit. But you will never catch me in heels, and if you do, I’ll be complaining the whole time. On a silent crusade to normalize sneakers with every outfit.
9. Favorite animal?
My pup, Peggy. She’s a french bulldog :)
10. What do you do in your free time?
Free time is time with the girlies. I am so grateful to have a beautiful core group of friends in New York, they spark so much joy for me, and I love spending time with them.
11. Favorite social media trend at the moment?
Photo of someone taking a photo. Peep the new profile pic on insta hehe.
12. What is currently in your bag/purse?
Lipglosses and crystals.
13. What three things would you bring to a deserted island?
Ok if I’m being reasonable, water, food, and a mattress. If I’m being goofy, Peggy, unlimited matcha lattes, and a vibrator lol.
Romanticize Your Life Relaxed Tee
14. What advice would you give to yourself from ten years ago?
People won’t understand you, you don’t have to try and get them to. That’s their loss.
15. Who do you consider to be the most influential person in your life?
My dad. I think he’s the most special human. I also like to think I’m pretty influential to him, I recently taught him about the “ick list” and the importance of one.
16. If you could have dinner with one person, living or dead, who would you choose?
Meryl Streep. Or Kris Jenner.
17. What is your favorite part of working at Wolven?
Getting to be creative every day.
Thyme Flare & Thyme Racerback Bra
18. What does your “Recently Played” section of Spotify look like?
Ohhhh I’m about to be read. Ok, so I just had a boy disappoint me recently (boo) and so my top 3 on repeat right now are: “hate to be you” “Karma” and “Can’t Catch Me Now.”
19. Current TV show obsession?
Old seasons of Bachelor In Paradise. And The Bear.
20. Best book you have ever read?
Super Attractor by Gabby Bernstein. Changed my life.
]]>At Wolven, we love a good excuse to get together with our girlies and what better reason than Galentine’s Day! Come celebrate love with us and check out our guide to Galentine’s Day the Wolven way.
Setting the Mood
Nothing screams Galentine’s Day more than cheese, roses and chocolate. To really set the mood at the Galentine's Day gathering, it is super important to always have cheese out at all times. Our favorite cheese right now is merlot bellavitano paired with quince paste. Along with a plethora of candles, our sustainable incense cigarettes are the perfect mood setter. They have a smokey, sultry scent with notes of cedar, lavender and sage that vibe perfectly with romantic energy of the season.
Drinks
Our friends, Sophie Jaffe and Daniella Monet just launched their wellness supplement Butterfly Boost and we have been having so much fun experimenting with all sorts of recipes using the Butterfly Boost powder. For our Galentine’s Day celebration, we wanted to provide options when it came to drinks. Of course, we needed to have rosé hand. But for those of us who are keeping the “dry January” streak going, we created the perfect wellness cocktail using Butterfly Boost. Designed to support your daily nutrition while boosting brain health, enhancing beauty, uplifting energy levels, and improving mood, this supplement contains ingredients such as ashwagandha, maca root and tocos. For our mocktail, we mixed Butterfly Boost with some lavender lemonade and seltzer. Butterfly Boost was the perfect addition to our Galentine’s mocktail, giving our beverage the perfect periwinkle hue. The beverage was so refreshing and fun for our sober girlies!
Chocolate-Covered Strawberries
There is so much joy in cooking with friends! For our Galentine’s Day gathering, we choose to make chocolate covered strawberries. Making chocolate covered strawberries is so much fun and brings out so much laughter. It is also so easy! All you need is two large boxes of strawberries and two bags of chocolate chips (you can use dark, milk or white). Melting the chocolate is so simple too - you just need to create a double-boiler using whatever pans you already have in your kitchen. Rolling the strawberries in chocolate brought out our youthful, playful sides, as we were covered in chocolate and had a blast getting messy! Plus, everything tastes better when you have a hand in making it!

Tarot Readings
There is no better time than mid-February for a Tarot reading. About 6 weeks into the new year, some of us are feeling down about not sticking to our resolutions like we planned to, or just feeling those winter blues. Nothing helps feel more grounded and optimistic than a Tarot reading surrounded by friends! We got cozy on the floor decked out in our Harmony print for some 1:1 readings. All of us left the readings feeling inspired and enthusiastic about the future. Reading each other’s Tarot is also such a great bonding experience to have with friends and a great way to spark conversation.

We hope you try some of our suggestions for your Galentine’s Day gatherings! Leave us a comment to share what activities you did at your Galentine’s Day events!
]]>If you are a Swiftie, like all of us at Wolven HQ, you know all about Taylor’s various eras. Each of her eras represents a change in her musical style and image, but most importantly, a shift in Taylor’s growth. To celebrate how far Taylor has come, we thought it would be cool to envision Taylor in our Wolven styles. Take a look at how we styled Taylor through each of her eras!
Taylor Swift - 2006
Taylor’s debut era evokes memories and nostalgia in most millennials. Taylor was just starting out in her career and was full of innocence and youth. To represent this era, we dressed Taylor in our Eucalyptus color. We love the fresh and pure vibe of Eucalyptus and can picture Taylor pairing our Eucalyptus Flares with a cowboy hat and boots.
Eucalyptus Crisscross Four-Way Top and Eucalyptus Flares
Fearless - 2008
It was in this era that Taylor really let her quirky personality shine through. We all remember the iconic “You Belong With Me” music video where Taylor embraces her nerdy side that we know and love. In this era, Taylor gained confidence and sass, swapping out her sundresses for sequin gowns and sparkly fringe dresses. Of course, we had to style Taylor in our bold Onyx color for this era. We love picturing Taylor rocking out in our Onyx Pyramid Top and our Onyx Pocket Bike Short in this super fun era.
Onyx Racerback Bra and Onyx Pocket Bike Short
Speak Now - 2010
The “Speak Now” era is largely considered Taylor’s metamorphosis era. In this era, she began experimenting with her music style, leaning back into her country roots while also exploring theatrical elements. This was the first album where Taylor fully wrote every song, allowing her to assert her independence and individuality. It is only fitting that we styled Taylor in our Metamorphosis Sweatshirt for this era, as this is truly the era where she began to find herself.
Canvas Metamorphosis Sweatshirt
Red - 2012
In this era, Taylor left behind her country glam look and adopted a retro approach. Taylor shifted her style to a more vintage look, wearing 1950’s dresses, high-waisted shorts, cat-eye sunglasses and her signature bold red lip. Obviously, we had to dress Taylor in our Cayenne color and think she would look fabulous in our Cayenne Pyramid Top and Cayenne Pocket Bike Short.
Cayenne Pyramid Top and Cayenne Pocket Bike Short
1989 - 2014
A popular era among Swifties, the album “1989” ushered in both a musical and image shift for Taylor. This era is highly reminiscent of 80’s pop and showcased Taylor experimentation with a funkier musical aesthetic. We call this Taylor’s “golden era of pop” and for that reason we styled Taylor in our Turmeric color. One thing's for sure, Turmeric will never go out of style.
Turmeric Crisscross Four-Way Top and Turmeric Flare
Reputation - 2017
This was Taylor’s badass era and all of us Swifties were here for it. In this era, Taylor said IDGAF to her haters with a darker and moodier tone. Taylor’s style also evolved into a darker aesthetic. Our Zephyr print is absolutely perfect for this version of Taylor (they even have snakes on them!) We can totally see Taylor pairing our Zephyr print with some leather boots and a bold, dark lip.
Zephyr Ruched Crossover Legging and Zephyr Four- Way Top
Lover - 2019
Just when we thought Taylor had completely changed, she did a total 360 back to innocence and softness with her “Lover” era. The dark hues of "Reputation” were replaced with pastel pinks and blues and butterflies took over snakes. We coined this the “colors after the storm” era and wanted her style to reflect that. Our bright and vibrant Lychee color is perfect for this era and we love to picture Taylor decked out in this beautiful jewel tone.
Lychee Ruched Crossover Pocket Legging
Evermore - 2020
Evermore was Taylor’s foray into indie music and the vibes were there to match. This album depicted her songwriting stripped down to a simpler, more ethereal version of what we had seen before. Taylor swapped out the vibrant colors for neutrals as she bundled up in chunky cardigans and flannel jackets. Her purity is evident in the era, which is why we styled her in our Harmony print. We are envisioning it now; Taylor relaxing on the couch in the Harmony Ruched Crossover Legging sipping hot cocoa with Olivia Benson curled up on her lap. Perfection!
Harmony Ruched Crossover Legging
Midnights - 2022
This is Taylor’s most recent album and current era. This returns to a more pop-like sound, with some edge added to it. Taylor is back in the public spotlight and absolutely killing it with her worldwide sold out shows. We choose our Reverie print to represent this era, for it is truly a showstopper. Bold and striking, Taylor will certainly be dressing for revenge in our Reverie High-Waisted Short and Reverie Racerback Bra.

Alright, Swifties, we are dying to know! Which of Taylor's eras is your favorite?

Regina George:
Regina is the epitome of main character energy and the ultimate I-T G-I-R-L. As the leader of the Plastics, she is manipulative, powerful, intimidating and knows how to get her way. Her style is girly, but with a trendy, modern flair. After all, she is the one setting the trends at North Shore High, so whatever she wears instantly becomes the “it” trend of the season. With this in mind, we are styling Regina in our Lychee set. We love the boldness of Lychee and think it pairs well with Regina’s It Girl vibes. Regina would stand out from the crowd no matter what she was wearing, but the brightness of Lychee will definitely make every head turn when she enters a room.
Lychee Racerback Bra and Lychee Crossover High Waisted Short
Gretchen Weiners:
As a member of the Plastics, Grethen knows that whatever Regina says, goes. Just like the rest of the Plastics, Gretchen mimics Regina's personality and style. Gretchen has a fun and girly style, just like Regina. For Gretchen, we selected the Amalfi print. The Amalfi print is fun and flirty and compliments Regina’s Lychee set, while still giving Gretchen a style of her own. Expressive and bright, we think the Amalfi print will boost Gretchen Weiner’s confidence giving her some extra guts to stand up to Regina George.
Amalfi Keyhole Top and Amalfi Flare
Karen Shetty: Even though Karen is a member of the Plastics, she lives in her own world with her head in the clouds. Of course, Karen would never forget that on Wednesday’s the Plastics wear pink, but we like to think she finds a style of her own on the other days. We love Karen’s naive and flirty vibe and know she would look perfect in our Reverie print. This whimsical print definitely fits Karen’s carefree and light personality yet is bold enough to be worn by a member of the most powerful clique at North Shore High School.
Reverie Legging and Reverie Reversible Four-Way Top
Cady Heron:
Cady is free-spirited, eccentric, and a little bit innocent. She is independent and breaks the mold of the typical teen stereotypes. Although she gets a little carried away with infiltrating the Plastics, we know that Cady is truly sweet and pure at heart. We dressed Cady in our lively Fauna print, as we feel this reflects her compassionate and kind-hearted personality. Plus, we figured we would give her a break from all the pink.
Fauna Keyhole Top and Fauna Ruched Crossover Leggings
Janis Sarkisian:
Janis can be described as fierce, bold, artsy, and most importantly, rebellious. Her style is dark and 90’s grunge inspired. We love Janis’s confidence in herself and her sense of empowerment. Since she's not afraid to express who she is, we picture her in the Noor Racerback Bra and matching Noor Legging. Just like Janis, the Noor print is dark and fierce and definitely a one-of-a-kind print.
Noor Reversible Four-Way Top and Noor Flare
Damian Hubbard:
Damian is way more than just Janis’s sidekick; he is loyal, creative, sassy and funny. As one of the most iconic characters in “Mean Girls”, we wanted to make sure he looked the part. We are styling Damian in our bold Feels sweatshirt to match his over-the-top personality. Damian is every bit as dramatic as our Feels print and we think they make the perfect match.
Onyx Feel your Feelings Sweatshirt
We had so much fun styling these iconic "Mean Girls" characters! What do you think of the looks we choose?

An Immersive Experience
The Day Zero experience hangs on the pillars of immersion and cultural connectivity, sharing space between the ancient world and modern mankind. From sunset to sunrise, each moment is woven within the fabric of the venue’s energy. This connection with surroundings and self is what has helped create the ideal environment for experiencing the world’s best electronic music. Exploring the festival grounds leads you to an enchanted cenote and a relaxing cave with projection mapped artwork all around.
Committed To Our Earth
The essential link with the natural world and local community has shepherded Day Zero’s commitment to fostering an environmental sustainability program that will ensure the event’s continued return to the ancient land. Honoring Mayan culture, the Day Zero team is dedicated to this process and enlists industry professionals whose sole purpose is to leave the venue cleaner than they found it and free of dangerous pollutants. With little to no plastic on site, Day Zero was one of the cleanest festival experiences we have ever seen.
In Tulum, the Day Zero team focuses on the preservation of the jungle, collaboration with local sustainability initiatives, waste control and minimization, onsite recycling plus tracking of the full recycling process and post-production restoration. From 2022 onwards they teamed up with Petgas to transform plastic into fuel. And they started to use this fuel for their generators.
The ongoing evolution of the event’s story is why Day Zero is revered as the epitome of modern rave, offering its global community a path towards transcendental awakening — wherever it may land.

Sometimes, we want to let go of all the pressures that come with being in a relationship that society has thrown onto us, disconnect from the outside world, and reconnect with each other. There are ways of taking that pressure off, such as being in the present moment, laughing, and just recalling why you love each other. Starting a new hobby or passion with one another, like yoga or taking a new dance class, can teach you new things about your significant other that you didn’t know and may bring a healthy form of vulnerability to the relationship.
Let us know which couples self-care activity is your go-to this season — and we hope these tips can help you nourish your mind, body, and partnerships.

It’s officially fall, Wolfpack. That means sweaters, soups, blanket forts, beanies, pumpkin spice everything, thick socks, Harry Potter marathons, and of course, a little introspection. When living in alignment with the cycles of the Earth, flowing with the seasons can be one of most powerful ways to engage with these energetic fluctuations and the season of fall is a powerful threshold that marks our descent into the last quarter of the year. This descent ushers us into the season of death and hibernation where we finally get the space and the quiet to process all that we’ve experienced so far this year. And I don’t know about you, but this year, particularly this summer, has been an absolute whirlwind and after this nonstop energy, I am definitely looking forward to the slower pace of this final quarter of the year, both physically and energetically.
Our capitalistic society has ingrained into us the mentality that we always have to be in forward motion, never resting, and always leaning into the masculine by way of logic and the mind. But autumn is here to remind us that the natural world does not operate like that, and we should follow suit and use this time to lean into the feminine, by way of emotion and the heart. We have to view nature as inspiration to encourage us and show us that it is okay and safe to integrate rest into our overall output and production process.
After all, death is a divine requirement in order for birth and regeneration to happen. So, what narratives have to die in order for new ones to have the space to emerge? What feelings have to be fully felt and processed before you’re able to move on to the next? The silence of this upcoming season is here to give us the isolation and introspection we need in order lean into that which truly makes us human; the complexity of our emotions. And neglecting them doesn’t make them disappear.
Luckily Wolvens newest drop, The Feel Your Feelings graphic (part of the Metamorphosis Capsule), is the perfect vehicle in which to navigate the roads of your inner world, and experience the totality of your spectrum of emotion, while feeling embodied. This new drop is totally in alignment with the time of year we are now entering, and is the perfect adornment to help you activate your heart, as you dive deep into your own personal depths.
Be not afraid of your heart. Your feelings are beautiful and deserve to be felt. It is truly what makes us human and what allows us to evolve and grow into better versions of ourselves. And what is the point of this sacred human experience, if not to live to your fullest potential? Welcome Autumn — may this equinox catalyze a beautiful descent into our shadows, so that we may love on them and then integrate them into the whole and remind ourselves that the entire spectrum of our humanity is magic. So It Is.

]]>You may have heard of “Lions Gate” and for those who have not or are not too familiar with it let me shed some light on this incredibly powerful day. It happens every year on August 8th, when an energetic portal opens within the cosmos — which is the best time to manifest. So what exactly do we mean by manifest? Manifesting is a time when you can call in all of your desires, hopes, and goals. By setting an intention, followed by an action, and trusting that if it is in your highest good it will come your way. Plus, you can use these tools all year long whenever you need some help grounding and manifesting.
Here are a couple of practices you can incorporate during Lion’s Gate:
We can all use a little guidance when it comes to powerful practices such as manifesting. Below are a few journal prompts to consider incorporating into your practice today.
Lions Gate Journal Prompts
Most of all, have fun and be intentional — you are a powerful being filled with love and all that you desire, desires you.

Growth isn't linear, it'll have its ups and downs. Refer to our favorite self-care reminders. Follow this road map, heal, and feel, and gain awareness for what you need. Dance, journal, moodboard, and most importantly, don't forget to breathe.
For Scorpio, and Saggitarius - The More Life Graphic
You are acutely aware of the fact that you're not the only person in the world. Not only do you know it, but you act accordingly. And it's good to be generous! But it's equally important to acknowledge that you're no less deserving than anyone else, either. This month use our "More Life" graphic as your daily glow-up checklist, for your mind, your body, and your soul. Make a point of treating yourself how you treat others.
For Cancer, Gemini, and Capricorn - The Spiritual Expansion Graphic
From flavors to experiences to people, you know what you like and what you don't. And when you already know what works for you and makes you happy, it's hard to feel motivated to branch out. This month, experiment with your preferences. Our planet your canvas for spiritual expansion.
Every time we go to LIB, we feel completely enamored with welcoming and vibrant energy. The eye-opening workshops, the loving people, and the out of this world artists (both visual and music) are vessels that make this festival community so powerful.
Here are a couple ways LIB presents itself with a spiritual vortex, where in just 5 days on the festival grounds, you can accomplish more spiritual growth than you ever anticipated.
1. You’re in a safe space
The festival grounds are far removed from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles and San Francisco. Here, you are encapsulated in a space with considerate camping neighbors, friendly strangers, delicious food, and the freedom to express yourself through dance, fashion, and beliefs. The sky's the limit at LIB, while still being in an ultra safe container with like-minded individuals.
2. Workshop expansion
From Acro yoga to the science of holistic living, LIB offers an array of workshops throughout the weekend – bound to teach you something new. The LIB team even includes sustainability in their workshop schedule (something we go crazy for of course). Here are some of the workshops that caught our eye:
Our favorite was doing yoga, the sound baths (Gong and Sound Bowls), and meeting up with the sober community.
3. Wandering solo
For our usual festival goers – you know when you’re with a big group and everyone wants to go somewhere different? Try running around solo! The service is limited, but that’s kind of the point.
Our theory is that you’re far more likely to meet new friends and make amazing connections on your own. . We highly recommend it - just be aware of your surroundings and comfort levels while doing so (and maybe write your friend’s numbers down in case your phone dies).
4. Express Yourself (in what you wear and what you think)
LIB has a safe and intentional community that encourages you to explore out of your comfort zone. Maybe that means, tapping into your inner child and frolicking across the grounds all day or wearing bright colors you wouldn’t wear back in the default world.
If you open your heart to the community, it will welcome you right back. Surrendering any predisposed judgment you have over yourself or others is just one way to tap into finding yourself. Say yes to experiences, share a hug with a stranger, and just breathe through what comes up. Through this expression, you are bound to walk away with confidence, clarity, and inner peace. See you at LIB next year!

]]>Mantras alone will not get you to your big goal, but they will put you in the right mindset to create a life that will serve your best self. Only through metamorphosis can we reach our true potential.
A Meditation For June:
Revisit this throughout the month in moments when you’re seeking peace.
May you be happy. May you be well. May you be safe. May you be peaceful and at ease.
I always underestimated the power of the mind. My motto in life used to be, out of sight, out of mind. I went along with my life, somewhat merrily, in absolute denial of the importance of my mental health. “Well, if it’s not happening to me right now at this moment, I don’t have to think about it, or process it.” And all was well. Until it wasn’t.
]]>I remember the day vividly. It was a Thursday evening when every single thought, emotion, and memory that was trying to shape me into the person I was denying myself to grow into, exploded in a moment. I lost feeling in my hands, my vision went blurry, and my heart was beating so strongly out of my chest, I truly thought it was about to leave my body. At the age of 22, I had my first severe panic attack.
That was my big wake-up call that to feel good, to really feel good inside, I have to put in the work. And yes, I make mistakes along the way. But mistakes eventually lead to fewer bad days.
Here are my tried and true methods to ground myself, and to remind myself that tomorrow needs me.
Shower meditation
Every time you shower, visualize washing away your stress and anxiety. Concentrate on the feel of the water upon your skin. Envision the power of the water washing away your negative thoughts. Feel sadness, regret, anger, and depression washing right off of you. Let it all go down the drain, you’ll start to feel lighter and much more clear.
Mantras to stop negative self-talk
There is absolutely nothing “wrong” with me.
I treat myself with the same gentleness I show to my loved ones.
I am human. I am allowed to fail.
I am trying my best, and that is enough.
Today may be bad, but tomorrow will be better.
I am loved.
Romanticizing your life for you
You have to start believing that your morning commute is cute and fun, that every cup of coffee is the best you’ve ever had, and that even the smallest and most mundane things are exciting and new.
You have to because that is when you truly start living. That’s when you look forward to every day.
Recognizing that it’s a feeling - and our moods go up and down
Put on your headphones, force yourself to get out of bed, stand in the sun and blast some Taylor Swift. You are so strong for choosing to make it through the day. Nothing’s really wrong - and nothing’s wrong with you. It’s just the way you’re feeling, which is completely valid - and our feelings usually change.
And remember, that these hard times, the pain, these lessons - one day will be your strength, your awareness, and your blessings. Hang in there, I’m rooting for you.

Claudia Marée is a British born, New Zealand raised Wolven Wolf currently residing in New York. Outside of Wolven, Claudia holds degrees and passions in Film & Television Performance, culinary arts, social media marketing and social psychology. Claudia is a big advocate for normalizing mental health. Having been diagnosed with high functioning anxiety, depression, and PTSD, Claudia’s goal is to break the stigma associated with mental health. Peace, love, & Wolven, members of my fellow Wolfpack.
What drew you to Wolven?
I met Kiran years ago and had many conversations about joining the team - so glad we finally made it work! I was always impressed with the quality of the products - every piece had such a soft hand-feel that I could not believe it had 84% recycled content! Most rPET products on the market have more of that swimsuit-like fabric but ours are soft and smooth.
Also, many brands out there would say they were focused on sustainability… but it became evident from just the initial discussions that sustainability was really at the core of the brand. There was also so much uniqueness in the prints that no one else in the market was offering. The amazingly talented and diverse all-women team was the cherry on top!
What is the highlight of your career thus far?
Joining Wolven! Other than that, it’s a bit difficult to pinpoint as every stage of my career has been rewarding in its own way. What’s really neat is getting to the point in your career where you can truly believe in yourself as an expert in what you do. I don’t mean this in a conceited way, but it’s really rewarding to look back on your hard work and be able to apply what you have learned in new settings. I have learned that a lot of businesses, whether big or small, have similar problems, and there are certain steps you can take to solve them and be in a better position. I don’t think too many people can say they are at that point in their careers at my age so I am grateful for the experiences that have brought me here.
How would your friends describe you?
I am often busy with work so my acquaintances may say that I am ambitious or career-driven. My close friends, though, will likely say that I am very caring. I am a bit of an over-thinker so I think a lot about what people may be feeling / wanting / needing / etc. I try to cater to them whether it’s finding the most special birthday gifts or lending a helping hand when they are in need.
Favorite place you’ve traveled to?
I loved the Swiss Alps - a completely different setting but also breathtakingly beautiful! I could never forget the moment coming down the alps on the cable car - it was one of the most peaceful and fulfilling moments of my life.
What is your ideal morning routine?
These days, our 7-month old chocolate lab puppy and 6-year old white lab wake us up for breakfast every morning at an ungodly hour of 4am. Then, we go back to sleep for a couple hours until they wake up again around 6am. It’s not fun when the pup stomps on my face and wakes me up but I’m trying to cherish the moments while she’s still young. On weekdays, I’m pretty bad about checking my phone for messages and emails early in the morning. I hear that you’re not supposed to so I try to look away and meditate even for a few minutes. I am a big breakfast person so that always comes next, typically followed by coffee. I get straight to work after that - I usually have calls and meetings all day starting around 9am.
On weekends, however, I love going to pilates and the farmer’s market in my Wolven outfit. No, but seriously - you will catch me in my Zephyr One Shoulder Top and Flare combo on most Saturdays. I usually splurge on nice coffee afterwards - the NOLA from Blue Bottle and the iced New York from Go Get ‘em Tiger are my favorites!
What is your mission as COO here at Wolven?
Increase revenue and profits and decrease costs while staying true to the brand and its ethos. I know that’s cliché but they have to be your foci for a business to be successful. I also love cultivating teams. I am really excited to learn and feature the special talents of each team member and help them grow in their careers and as people. Lastly, I am excited to introduce hard goods to complement our amazing apparel. This is going to be a fun ride!
Where is your favorite LA spot?
El Segundo! It’s a hidden gem that I’ve worked at for a long time and I finally get to call home. We have the most charming little downtown area, a not-so-crowded beach, the best school district, the friendliest neighbors and a 5-minute drive to LAX. In terms of venues, I love the Dodger Stadium - I’ve been a big fan since moving to LA nearly 27 years ago and it’s a special place for me that holds so many fun memories.
Do you find it hard to balance life and work? Especially working from home. Any tips for the rest of us?
Like many things in life, it goes in waves. I don’t find work to be challenging or stressful on its own - I really love to work and it’s a big positive in my life. Where it gets tricky is when there are multiple life events happening at once. I remember having long Covid while working from home, planning our wedding and remodeling our new home. It’s not easy but it’s important to know that everything is temporary and realize that even the difficult moments are special. Also, keeping good habits and schedules - waking up at the same time every morning, squeezing in workouts (or even walks) throughout the day / week, eating healthy (whatever that means to you), spending time with loved ones and taking time for yourself, whether it’s Netflix or taking a bath - will all help prevent burnouts.
What/who motivates you?
I’m pretty self-motivated. I take pride in everything I do and it’s important to me that what I do has a positive impact on the world in some way. I am also motivated by the well-being of my parents, family and loved ones.
Motto that you live by?
Let’s make the world a better place together.
]]>Whether you’re shopping for your mom or a close friend who just had a child, we can bet that shopping for these wonder women is high up on your priority list. Here, at Wolven, we’re here to make your shopping for them simple, you’ll be able to truly show your appreciation for all they do by buying that set that speak to their personality. Give them the gift of Wolven this Mother's Day!
]]>
Here, at Wolven, we’re here to make your shopping for them simple, you’ll be able to truly show your appreciation for all they do by buying that set that speak to their personality. Here are the Wolfpack’s picks for their mommas:
Dasha: I would gift my mom the Thyme Flares set because she’s elegant and cool. The earthy tones are her absolute favorite and makes her feel the most empowered in her femininity.
Kiran: I would gift my mom the Fauna and Amalfi Flares, her style is bright and vibrant like mine & she loves rocking our prints. The waistband is supportive and never rolls and the flares are available on a petite inseam for us shorties.
June: I think my mom would love the Eucalyptus Flare. She’s on the more conservative side when it comes to fashion so this would give her a chance to still experience our amazingly soft fabric and stylish fit without getting a print, which may be too much for her (although not for me)!
Claudia: Without a doubt, I would gift my mum the Cayenne Set. Because she is the spiciest lady I know.
So I’m here to give a refreshing take on your month ahead, with easy-to-use mantras that you can revisit throughout the month. Let this mantra guide you for the month ahead. Take what resonates or do your own thing; either way, remember, you’re the main character in your own life. Don’t let anyone tell or treat you differently.
PS: I made you a cute wallpaper for your mantra this month.
A Meditation For May
Revisit this throughout the month in moments where you’re seeking mindfulness
How wonderfully you have grown since May of last year,
over rivers, over mountains, through an ocean of your fears,
learning to believe over and over again:
no matter the shadows, the light is still pouring in.
So breathe deep and step full into every present moment,
for every millisecond is a frame of time, a flash of light on its own.
And though you cannot keep record of every single one of them,
you have been fully alive in all of them,
and you have belonged in every moment —
you have truly belonged in every moment.
So when time is racing by, may your memory serve you well
every past moment was a part of the story you will tell.
Through sleepless nights and wonder-whys,
you have learned to see on starless nights
that after everything you made it here, and you just might be alright.
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
My fiery Aries queens. Focus on what makes you happy and the rest will follow. Over the next month, consistent, steady strategizing is your key to manifesting the abundance you’ve been setting the groundwork to receive.
Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
The most determined of star signs, you’re outgrowing some relationships and that’s ok. Remember to be vocal about your needs and desires, your voice is powerful. Practice reading out loud to get more comfortable with the power of your own voice and open up your Throat Chakra.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Step Up is a great movie, and also a great motto for you to follow this month, my sweet and sassy Geminis. Spending solo time will help you receive lush wisdom in what you want in your beautiful life. Remember, rejection is redirection.
Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Our nurturing Cancer babies, the most beautiful blossoming in your relationships occurs with patient persistence. What’s for you, won’t pass you. Remember to treat yourself with the same softness and care you attend to others with.
Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Lucious Leos, make the most of the opportunities at hand, put your phone down (after you read this), be present, don’t future trip, and start to believe that everything you need is already within yourself. Take a break from how the external world perceives you and focus internally on your relationship to self this month.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Virgos are known for their need for perfectionism, which can be a lot of pressure to maintain and uphold. So I’m going to remind you that choosing yourself is always the perfect choice, whether that means choosing not to text someone back or choosing a night in over a night out, when you prioritize yourself you’re able to show up as a better version for others.
Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Babes, it’s a month to Marie Kondo your life, say thank you and goodbye to the things that no longer spark joy. Tolerate nothing that doesn’t make you feel your best. Prioritize authenticity over expectations.
Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Short and sweet for you, my Scorpio friendships. The version someone created of you inside their mind is not your responsibility.
Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
Embrace the tremendous changes in your relationships this month, Sagittariuns. Your journey belongs to you. Your emotions belong to you. Your breakthroughs belong to you. Grow on your own terms without caring what people think. This is your journey, not theirs.
Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
Capricorns, your energy is contagious. Where your attention goes, energy flows. As we shift internally, the external world will respond, so keep focusing on your own evolution.
Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
Make space for you every day this month — artists dates (s/o The Artists Way), meditative walks, gym time, and making that recipe you’ve been wanting to try are all ways for you to nurture your relationship to self. Take time to become your own best friend, besties.
Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
My Pisces people, sometimes you have to slow down to speed up. Spend some time in nature and the sun, take long walks, and assess where you’re at. When you rest and evaluate, you will come back stronger.

Eating living foods changed my health and my life as a whole. All of our health successes and problems start in the gut – I discovered that the key to living a more energized life depended on what I was eating, which is when I started to implement raw and living foods into my diet. If you’re anything like me, going to the grocery store can feel like a chore. Farmers markets have given me the comfort of knowing I'm fueling my body with the most whole and local produce and making grocery shopping that much more exciting.
Even if you’re shopping at your local grocery store, the best thing you can do for your body (and the planet) is learn to incorporate local raw & living foods and juices into your daily life. Here’s why:
Raw and living foods are fruits, veggies, sprouted nuts and seeds, and fermented/cultured foods. These foods are rich in essential nutrients, enzymes, and antioxidants that can help improve digestion, increase energy levels, and promote overall health and well-being. Eating raw and living foods can also bring a greater sense of connection to the earth and its natural cycles, as we consume foods in their purest, most natural state. By nourishing our bodies with these nutrient-dense foods, we can support our physical and mental health and cultivate a deeper connection to ourselves and ultimately our earth.
Implementing this daily can be as simple as a daily juice or a chia pudding. These are my go to’s that require minimal prep.
Daily Energizing Juice
Prep: 5-10 mins
Juicing is a great way to hydrate, remineralize, and get other essentials like vitamins, enzymes, and cofactors into the body. My preference is first thing in the AM when the body is empty. Juicing has become very popular recently at shops, but what about at home? Since a lot of people have blenders, but do not have juicers at home, here is one of my simple juice formulas that doesn’t actually require a juicer! Simply blend up 32-50oz spring water with the following:
Ingredients:
Pour the liquid into a bottle and enjoy. I like to drink it all before eating any food that day. This maximizes the body's absorption rate of the liquid. Aim to do this 1-3 times a week. See for yourself how being hydrated can help you feel more energized! Ginger and Turmeric are loaded with anti-inflammatory properties, as well as minerals that rebuild the body. Limes are high in natural Vitamin C and electrolytes. The apple is to taste, but personally I sometimes skip the apple entirely!
Overnight Chia Pudding:
Prep 5-10 mins (soaks overnight)
I’ve been making this as a quick and easy breakfast for years now and it seriously never gets old! The high fiber and protein content in chia seeds can help you feel full and satisfied, which can help prevent overeating and snacking on unhealthy foods throughout the day.
Ingredients:
Optional Toppings:
This recipe makes one serving, but it can easily be doubled or tripled to make multiple servings. The chia pudding will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, so you can make a batch ahead of time for a quick and easy breakfast or snack throughout the week.
Overall, my best advice is to get curious about your body and the ways you can better nourish yourself. The smallest of choices often have the biggest impact: and one of the most beautiful things about being a human is our power of choice.
Love and Light,
Ash

Panchakarma:
The word Panchakarma means “five actions” in Sanskrit, and it refers to the five steps involved in the process of traditional Ayurvedic detox. The word detox here isn’t just about ridding the body of toxins, it is also about creating a balanced mind-body state. These five steps are designed to work together to cleanse the body and restore balance to the doshas, the three fundamental energies in the body. The process was intense but the team at Sukhavati does an incredible job of making you feel supported and comfortable every step of the way. The on-site doctor provides daily appointments to each patient, and each day is filled with a balance of more challenging processes (like enimas) and relaxing therapies (like in-room facials). Each evening, your schedule for the next day is left on your bed. Not everyone engages in all five of the steps below, and each program is tailored to what your desired results from the experience are.
Vamana (Therapeutic Vomiting):
The first step of Panchakarma is Vamana. This involves therapeutic vomiting to remove excess Kapha (one of the three doshas) from the body. This is done under the guidance of an Ayurvedic practitioner and is used to clear the respiratory and digestive tracts. Vamana is a powerful tool for detoxification, and it is particularly effective for those with respiratory problems, allergies, and skin disorders.
Personally, this was not part of my program so I cannot speak to it, however I was prescribed herbal supplements during my stay at Sukhavati that I am still taking and have found to be very helpful.
Virechana (Purgation Therapy):
The second step of Panchakarma is Virechana, which is a purgation therapy that involves taking herbal laxatives to clear the digestive tract and remove excess Pitta (one of the three doshas) from the body. This step is useful for those with liver and digestive disorders, as well as those with skin problems, allergies, and chronic headaches.
I drank 100 ml of castor oil for this step of the process. I found the oil easy to swallow, though many others at the retreat did not. It is a very thick and viscous liquid. On the day I drank castor oil, the only meal I consumed was khichdi — a traditional rice/daal mixture. Being plant-based already, I did not have a very challenging time with this step, however many of the others I spoke to struggled with the dietary restrictions, including my brother. Interestingly, as soon as I drank the oil I had a really bad headache. The headache passed after a couple of hours.
Basti (Enema Therapy):
The third step of Panchakarma is Basti, an enema therapy used to remove excess Vata (one of the three doshas) from the body. Basti involves the introduction of herbal oils, decoctions, and other substances into the colon to promote bowel movement and remove toxins. Basti is particularly helpful for those with joint problems, constipation, and nervous disorders.
Nasya (Nasal Administration):
The fourth step of Panchakarma is Nasya, which is a nasal administration therapy used to remove toxins from the head and neck region. Nasya involves the application of herbal oils or decoctions into the nostrils to clear the sinuses, improve mental clarity, and treat conditions like sinusitis, headaches, and allergies.
Rakta Moksha (Blood Letting):
The fifth and final step of Panchakarma is Rakta Moksha, which is a blood-letting therapy used to remove toxins from the blood. This process involves the use of leeches, needle pricks, or other techniques to remove excess Pitta from the bloodstream. Rakta Moksha is particularly effective for those with skin problems, gout, and other blood-related disorders.
Following the five steps of Panchakarma allow you to remove toxins from their body, restore balance to doshas, and promote optimal health. It is recommended to undertake Panchakarma under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner, like those at Sukhavati, who can guide you through the process safely and tailor to your individual needs.

1. How was Wolven born?
I have always loved fashion — growing up I took sewing classes and loved making my own clothes. Wolven was born from my desire to combine all of my passions into one company: my love for art and apparel, my Eastern heritage and my love for the planet.
2. What’s your favorite part of the process in running a business?
I love managing and organizing teams. Being able to create paths for growth for my teammates to be able to find a way to shine within their own careers and providing them with a platform for their voices to be heard is hands down my favorite thing.
3. Who’s another female founder you admire?
Nadya Okamoto is a friend and founder of August and non-profit Period Inc. She is a powerful force working to dilute the stigma around periods, making them a dignified experience and also working to end period poverty.
4. Favorite animal?
Butterflies. I love the symbolism behind the butterfly, so much so that my latest tattoo is of a butterfly, which was done at Ephemeral Tattoo with made-to-fade ink. The butterfly’s metamorphosis from the common, colorless caterpillar to the exquisite winged creature of delicate beauty has become a metaphor for transformation, hope, rebirth and resurrection. Among the ancients, is an emblem of the soul and of unconscious attraction towards light. For the last few years I’ve felt like I was in a cocoon or chrysalis phase, and it feels good to be entering my butterfly era.
5. Favorite place to travel?
Paris. I love thrifting designer vintage, drinking wine by the Seine and discovering new restaurants. Between a postcard panorama and the inhabitants’ reality, the eternal Paname, in perpetual motion, is constantly evolving, keeping the living traces of its history in its heart of stone. Paris is always a good idea.
6. What do you hope your business is bringing to the athleisure space?
What Wolven is bringing to the athleisure space is a brand that is extremely mindful of its impact on the planet. All of our clothes are made from recycled water bottles — for every order we remove 1 pound of plastic from the ocean. We also strive to create a vibrant, diverse community while celebrating people’s differences.
7. What’s an item you can’t live without?
WhatsApp. My Summit Set. Riding boots. My Executive Assistant Claudia.
8. Who are you inspired by right now?
My soul sister Sahara Rose (@iamsahararose) – her voice is a powerful force in the wellness and spirituality space.
9. Which of the two smells better, fresh-cut grass or bread baking in the oven?
100% bread. Or the smell of Indian bread on the stove — chapatis.
10. Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you began leading your company?
The first time I ever spotted Wolven in public was at Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles. I turned around and this girl was having the best time dancing in our Mandala Set. It was interesting for me to see someone choosing to wear comfortable, cool clothes in an environment where most people were fairly dressed up in traditional club clothes — short dresses, etc. This moment was pivotal for me because it really shifted how I viewed what I thought was and was not possible for where Wolven could be worn.
11. What do you feel is your biggest accomplishment as a business owner so far?
Bringing on Amanda Lapham as a Co-Founder for Wolven.
12. Do you like to follow trends?
Not really, I think it’s interesting to observe trends but I try to seek out my own inspiration from my lived experiences rather than what others deem culturally relevant.
13. What goes into producing your unique, sexy & functional designs?
I see problem solving at the core of our garment designs — our goal is always to create products that allow you to do more with less. I love coming up with innovative, multipurpose designs, like our Reversible Four-Way Tops.
14. Where to go in LA for a great meal?
Crossroads Kitchen — NYC vibes and sexy lighting with the best vegan food.
15. Advice for anyone going through a big change?
Remind yourself that all you have to do is one thing at a time. Don’t future trip – thinking 17 steps forward isn’t conducive, just 1 step in front of you is all you have to focus on. Changes are a blessing, and you deserve all the blessings in your life.
16. Does the use of sustainable materials have an impact on how you make your clothing or how long it will last?
All of our clothing is made from 84% recycled PET (rPET), a fabric that is created by taking BPA-free plastic water bottles, breaking them down, and weaving them into fabric. By using rPET we are diverting plastics from landfills and the ocean while creating durable clothing that’s made to last. Making durable long lasting clothing is another way we can reduce our impact on the environment.
17. Would you rather have 20 hobbies or a single passion?
A single passion – passion gives you drive to make your mark on the world.
18. How do you approach risk-taking in your business?
I tend to move pretty fast and have a high risk/ high reward mindset. I try to keep people around me who are more methodical and risk-averse to create a balance.
19. What’s something new you’ve tried recently or are actively trying?
Solo traveling. I am discovering what I like to do when I’m keeping myself company. Connecting with one’s self and becoming your own best friend is one of the most important things you can do for yourself.
20. If you could meet anyone in this world today, who would you meet?
Vivienne Westwood. The way she carried her rebellious spirit throughout her career combining punk symbolism with traditional feminine themes while being a warrior for mother earth is beautiful and inspiring. ]]>One of the most notable parts of Holi is the “Holika Dahan”, where people gather around bonfires, sing prayers, and offer food and sweets to the fire as a symbol of purification and renewal. The next day, also known as “Dhuli Vandan”, is when the streets come alive with colors as people throw colored powders at each other, drenching each other in vibrant hues.
Of course, it’s important to celebrate Holi in a responsible and eco-friendly way. Chemicals from the colors can be harmful to both the environment and your own health. We love using natural colors made from flowers, herbs and spices as an alternative. To make your own colors – see below.
Pink
Yellow
Green
Blue
For each of the colors, mix until the color is even, then spread on a tray to dry. Once dry, pass through a fine strainer and voila – there you have it. Remember to snap a pic in your Wolvens with your Holi powder – we can’t wait to see it.
]]>Emissions and Impacts on Valentines Day
It’s estimated that each year over 200 million roses are grown for Valentine’s day. This not only requires large amounts of resources such as land and water to grow, but also uses incredible amounts of energy to import from countries that have better weather conditions and cheaper labor (the main ones being Colombia, Kenya, Ecuador and Ethiopia). It was estimated that this contributes 9,000 tonnes of Co2 to the atmosphere, the equivalent of over 1 million gallons of gasoline consumed – just for a singular day! That’s a huge amount of emissions, not to mention what’s then generated by transportation and refrigeration on land, following their cross sea journey. The saddest part is that a few days following this long, intensive journey, it will have been for nothing, as the flowers are thrown away and forgotten. Roses aren’t the only culprit of environmental harm. We can think about the deforestation that’s required to produce masses of cards - the 180 million that are estimated to be bought on V-day - as well as the environmental and humanitarian failings of the cacao industry and the masses of waste that are generated from other discardable gifts, cards and wrapping.
It makes you wonder, at what cost must we show our love?
We don't think it’s right to hate the environment on a day dedicated to love, so we’ve compiled our list of 4 ways to be sustainable this Valentine’s Day.
1. GIVE SUSTAINABLY
Buy Fairtrade Chocolate
Let’s start with chocolate, one of the hottest commodities on Valentine’s day, and an industry that’s traditionally exploitative of both the environment and its laborers. The chocolate industry, especially the major brands which are mass produced, has been long linked to child labor and slavery, poor working conditions and environmental exploitation due to deforestation and excessive pesticide use. It’s incredibly important to be aware of where your chocolate comes from, especially on Valentine's day, and buy Fair Trade. The Fair Trade organization includes the most rigorous certification for social, environmental and economic standards, incorporating bans on use of pesticides, forced and child labor and a required organic certification. They provide safety nets to small farms such as their Fair Trade Minimum, which protects against market fluctuations and incorporates a sum that is paid on top of their profits for investment in community and business developments. They also play a huge role in enriching women as industry leaders and helping them to gain equal economic opportunities. All in all, Fair Trade certifications help farmers earn higher incomes and better livelihoods, and produce ethical, organic chocolate. When you buy chocolate this Valentine’s day, buy Fair Trade and support real people and the planet behind your purchase.
Here are some of our favorite, fair trade chocolate brands:
HU, Alter Eco, Theo Chocolate, Evolved, UnReal, Dapaah, Equal Exchange, Endangered Species, Beyond Good
Buy Sustainable Jewelry
(Or buy vintage, there’s so many unique pieces of jewelry that have a history, instead of buying something new)
Surface gold mining is one of the most destructive industries causing great environmental concern and around 7% of deforestation in developing nations, reported from a study at Yale. It completely disrupts the soil, and pollutants used in refining processes easily end up in water systems, affecting the health of nearby environments and populations. Almost all precious stones and metals come from poor regions of the world, without any supply chain transparency available for consumers. It’s also extremely important to be aware of the ethical implications and health hazards due to dangerous mining conditions in addition to the environmental effects. The production of jewelry also includes many processes that utilize heavy chemicals and pollutants, such as gem cutting which creates lung damaging dusts and is often carried out in facilities that don't have proper ventilation. Buying sustainable jewelry can mean many different things, whether that’s from brands that use recycled gold or lab grown gems that don’t involve mining, or finding ethical brands that focus on their social responsibilities and environmental impacts. It's important to pay attention to who and where your jewelry comes from.
We’ve done some of that work for you – here’s a list of some of our favorite sustainable, affordable jewelry brands:
Asma Amani, Mejuri, SOKO, AUrate, Brilliant Earth, ABLE, Cuyana
Go With Recycled
The paper required to produce holiday cards each year contributes further to deforestation that has overtaken much of our planet. Buying recycled cards and wrapping paper is a small step to eliminate this contribution.
2. DITCH THE BOUQUET
The traditional red rose, a Valentine’s day staple, are actually not as beautiful as they seem. The amount of roses produced each valentine’s day consumes huge amounts of water, uses large regions of land and requires mass amounts of energy to transport before being thrown away a few days later. This valentine’s day we challenge you to do it differently and buy a living plant, like a succulent, that you can keep long after one day - an emblem of a long lasting love that isn’t easily thrown away. If you really can’t ditch the roses, at least try to find a small boutique that grows locally and make sure to compost the flowers when you’re done with them!
3. MAKE IT PERSONAL
It doesn’t take a lot of money or a lot of things to show a lot of love.
Make Your Own Cards
Instead of wasting paper on a card, make your own from paper and supplies you already have. A personalized message in your handwriting can make all the difference in showing someone you love them, and who doesn’t love receiving a handwritten letter? What’s more, it won’t get tossed into the trash with the rest of the impersonal cards that no one wants sitting around.
DIY a Gift
There are so many ways to make a gift more personal and meaningful by doing them yourself. Wrap your gift in newspaper or old paper bags to repurpose your paper. Consider framing a picture that you love and painting the frame, or at least making a homemade card!
Have An Experience
Instead of focusing on something material, and consuming, there are so many ways to spend time with someone that’s much more meaningful than a generic teddy bear. Doing something out in nature is a great way to connect with the world and each-other. Consider going for a walk or hike, spending the day on the beach or at park to celebrate, instead of just purchasing something you’ll never actually use.
4. STAY INSIDE INSTEAD OF GOING OUT
What’s more romantic than a special home cooked meal? There’s no better way to say I love you than over an intimate candle-light dinner, so why not just do it at home? Buy sustainable, organic food from local vendors or even the farmers market (make it a date) and cook something fun, perhaps try a Vegan V-Day. Save emissions by not commuting to a restaurant, making for a less stressful and more memorable, intimate evening.
This Valentine’s Day, simple changes to the way you celebrate love can show your people you love them without hurting the planet in the process. That’s more love all around.

In order to protect white sage, a plant that has been harmfully affected by the increase in popularity and climate change, we recommend growing it yourself at home. This allows you to respect and appreciate it, rather than picking it up from your local supermarket where it was most likely, not sustainably grown. Above all, before you burn your sage, we recommend doing some research into understanding the history and the meaning behind the sacred practice.
