Sustainability Sunday: Web Neutral Project

Sustainability Sunday: Web Neutral Project

by Kacey Incerpi October 01, 2017

Here at Wolven Threads, we take pride in our commitment to sustainable business practices. We believe sustainability must permeate beyond our recycled fabric and dictate everything in our company as a whole. In an effort to be as green as possible, we are thrilled to announce that we have partnered with the Web Neutral Project. With our contribution to their reforestation efforts, the carbon footprint associated with your use of our website is neutralized!

The amount of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere is the highest it has been in the last three million years. When CO2 is released into the air, it rises and joins other gasses that create a layer that hovers in our atmosphere. This layer acts like a blanket of gas that absorbs infrared radiation instead of allowing it to escape into outer space. This phenomena, known as the greenhouse effect, leads to the deterioration of our ozone. This directly contributes to climate change. Businesses and individuals can make an effort to offset carbon emissions and slow down the environmental effects it has on our planet.

Businesses, large and small, can make a difference by committing to sustainable practices. The Web Neutral Project measures the total energy used by our website’s servers, network infrastructure, and your devices to calculate our carbon footprint. We hold ourselves accountable for these emissions and offset them by contributing to the Madagascar Forest Carbon Project. This project aims to eliminate 38 million tonnes of CO2 by helping locals improve their farming practices, creating new income opportunities and environmental education programs, and providing much-needed health and community services. The project also helps encourage locals to reduce their reliance on the forest which helps protect one of the largest remaining blocks of rainforests left on the island from deforestation.

This is one of many steps Wolven Threads is taking to be as green as possible. We will continue to participate in sustainable solutions that benefit the planet and hope to inspire other businesses to do the same. Have a website? Eliminate its carbon-footprint!

Eco-conscious decisions are equally important on an individual level. If we take more time to make sustainable choices, we can help preserve our environment for a brighter future. Stay tuned for weekly Sustainability Sunday blog posts this month to learn about more ways Wolven Threads invests in our sustainable future, and learn more ways YOU can implement sustainable choices into your daily life! We love our beautiful home and want to do all we can to improve it for future generations.
