Welcome Sagittarius season! Ruled by expansive Jupiter, Sagittarius season is wild, unbounded, independent, optimistic, insightful, restless, and above all, adventurous! This mutable sign is the most adaptable expression of the element of fire and as such, they are always down for anything! But despite their flair for the dramatic, they are also equal parts inquisitive, as their sense of adventure is directed both outward and inward.

At this time last year, we were still deep in quarantine and were becoming restless and sick with cabin fever and really just itching for a literal change of scenery. This year however, the archer's mission that is manifested through the individual is to reestablish our own independence.

Sagittarius is a sign of freedom and independence and after such an extended period of time being so limited in so many ways, we may have noticed ourselves even getting a little codependent. Not only with people but with the routines and surroundings we’ve grown used to over the nearly two years since this all began. Where before there was more of a familiarity with being spontaneous, these days, at least for me, that re-familiarization has not come as easily as I’d assumed. Even in the few times I’ve traveled this year, and I used to travel a lot, I’ve noticed an anxiety that wasn’t there before and is definitely a product of time overspent in stagnancy and in a comfort zone. But Sagittarius wants us to shake it up and get out of our comfort zones and remember what it’s like to be comfortable being uncomfortable. Sagittarius wants us to be a little reckless and reacquaint ourselves with our own adaptability. It’s time to tilt the scales in the other direction for a bit, before we get it together for Capricorn season and the new year.

In the tarot, the sign of Sagittarius corresponds to the Temperance card. To be completely honest, for a long time this correspondence really confused me, until I realized that this card is not a representation of the sign as opposed to the lesson it is here to learn and in this case, the lesson is one of balance. Sagittarius’ are so naturally optimistic and daring that it can sometimes result in biting off more than they can chew and in turn that can lead to burn out and expending too much energy so for them, the challenge comes from reigning it in and slowing down. It’s so common for us to hear guidance and advice that is about attaining balance, but that’s the easy part! The real challenge here is maintaining balance, and that’s what Temperance is all about. One foot on the ground for stability, and one in the water, for flow.

These complex and dynamic characteristics manifest in Sagittarius’ color associations of purple (spirituality, balance, higher thought), lavender (sensitivity, compassion, mystery), and indigo (intuition, dignity). Through these colors and characteristics I have isolated the colors and prints that will best serve us as vehicles for our own ascension.

Lavender

Historically purple has been associated with spirituality and the path to ascension and personally, this paler shade of purple is actually more representative of that path as its paler shade is the result of the incorporation of white, a color that symbolizes truth and intuition. The combination of the two gives us Lavender which is symbolic of sensitivity, compassion and mystery.

Indigo

The purest expression of Sagittarius’ color correspondence of indigo, this color represents intuition and dignity. This color is so deeply associated with spiritual wisdom that it has even been used in terms like ‘Indigo Child’, a phrase that is used to describe children with a more developed sense of intuition and emotional intelligence.

This color is a fusion of blue which represents trust, meditation and peace, as well as purple which represents the Higher Self as well as comprehension of The Mysteries.

Noor

To me, this print is major travel energy. Major see-the-Earth energy! Trust me, I myself have worn this exact set to go camping in northern California, travel to Bali and even to experience the cold and challenging Canadian winters in.

It also houses one of Sagittarius’ color correspondences, indigo. Sagittarius’ innate curiosity makes them natural jet-setters and people who desire wealth in experience above all else.

Chakra

As a sign with such strong themes of spirituality, the Chakra print represents Sagittarius’ destined ascent to enlightenment. Sagittarius’ color association of purple is also not-so-coincidentally associated the final chakra, the Crown chakra of enlightenment, Sahasrara.

Shakti

As a fire sign, Sagittarius has a natural heat to it and being named after a primordial Hindu goddess of both destruction and creation, the Shakti print is a natural addition to this sexy round up. Where a lot of spiritual practices imply that the sacred and the sexual cannot coexist, Shakti lets us know that that is not the case. In fact, true spirituality is about the whole. Our entirety as human beings.

May the sign of the archer grant us precision, foresight, and calm. May we find clarity in the paths we are meant to be in alignment with. May we reignite our passions, sense of purpose and independence; physically, mentally and emotionally. May our destinies lead us to adventure, fun and play. May we embrace spontaneity and allow it to catalyze growth. May we move past our comfort zones and greet the unknown with optimism and trust. And finally, may we be present and maintain the balance that sustains the ability to live freely and in the moment. So It Is.
