We are always looking for ways to heal ourselves with nature. We were created to be present on this earth and exist with its many healing properties. This week we are celebrating the feminine and finding healing and healthy inspiration from another rad lady, the best selling author of Cured by Nature, Tara Mackey.
What does your morning routine look like?
I stretch, make myself some caffeine free chai tea, an organic smoothie and do a quick meditation to start the day. Then I make and have breakfast and my fiancé and we take the dog on a hike. When we come home, I do a morning skincare routine: an oil cleanse, tone and face mask. Bliss!
How do you keep a clear and calm mind?
Mindful meditation and mind strengthening techniques throughout the day are my go-to. I practice kriya yoga, which focuses on concentration of breath for a peaceful life. As the breath flows, so flows the mind, because there is a feedback system between the mind and the breath. As the breath becomes calmer, so does the mind, and vice versa. In the practice of kriya, we concentrate on the breath. As we do so more and more, the quieter the mind becomes.

When did you realize your passion for the natural world?
I really loved nature as a child, but as a New York City kid, I didn’t have a huge chance to experience it. It wasn’t really until my road trip out to California that I had my first real shift in feeling like I was a part of the earth, rather than the earth being separate from me. It also became clear to me after I came off my pharmaceutical medication, because I turned to nature intuitively to heal. I have found healing in nature and food that never EVER came in the form of pills.
What is your spirit animal?
My dog, Raelie. She’s a pit/lab mix. Goofy, cuddly and loving but very intuitive, inquisitive and has a serious side. Plus, we're both hungry every 15 mins -- haha!!
What was the last thing you cooked?
I just made a 3 ingredient hot fudge topping – totally organic – that I’ll be sharing on the blog soon. It’s like magic shell, but healthy!
How do you keep your body healthy?
I’m mindful about my movement, my diet and my fitness. I’m really careful about the kind of thoughts I allow into my consciousness, which keeps me in balance. I keep negative self talk OUT, which leaves room for all the good stuff: self-love, care and positive energy. I do my Curve Sculptor fitness plan each and every day – I’ve never been healthier or more fit!
How would you describe your style?
Boho-chic. Think 25 years in NYC mixed with my last 5 years in California. :-)
In theme with woman crush Wednesday, is there a particular woman that inspires you?
ALL women inspire me. We’re incredible creatures. Females are my fav!
