Our plans this year? Model and lifestyle influencer Olivia Ponton joined Wolven for an Earth Day beach clean up. A warm water beach native, Olivia has always cared for the deep blue sea since her childhood in Naples, Florida.
Her big heart and bright aura are passionate about the planet, something we all have in common. Wolven is excited to bring you along our fun and sustainable day in the sand with one of our favorite sun-kissed babes, Olivia Ponton.
We met up bright and early at Will Rogers State Beach in Santa Monica to show the planet and our oceans some love with Olivia and One Earth One Ocean.
First up, Olivia sat down with our Sustainability Specialist Amanda Lapham to talk about ocean conservation and chat through opportunities for organizations to work with. As you all know, we are members of 1% for the Planet, an organization founded by Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, that helps ensure the legitimacy of our non-profit partners.
Olivia chose to partner with One Earth One Ocean, an organization that works to help clean up our oceans, removing plastic, chemical waste and oil from oceans globally. One Earth One Ocean has developed ocean-cleaning technology, such as the SeeHamster, a "maritime waste collection" vessel that is a compact catamaran used in inland waters such as lakes and rivers world wide, and now used in oceans in Cambodia, Germany and Indonesia.
Next up, we showed Olivia how to make a simple DIY Sand Sifter together, and then hit the beach to get started cleaning up, sifting through sand to find tiny plastics like bottle caps and pieces of single use plastic. Strange finds of the day: flip flops, a retainer, a few toothbrushes, a Dave&Busters points card, and an oddly large amount of gatorade caps. We hope our work can change the status quo and make a positive impact for our environment.
