Mavericks Bowl from Nalu Bowls Bali

Traveling through Bali, we have been so grateful for all of the local fresh fruits and smoothies that are accessible throughout the island.  Yesterday we tried the Mavericks Bowl from Nalu Bowls and loved it so much that we wanted to try to recreate it at home.  It's quick, easy, delicious and packed with loads of nutrients.

Each ingredient has it's own healing properties that will help support you through your day.  Fruits are mother nature's gift to us and it's worth taking a moment to learn about what the value add is of each fruit going into your smoothie.  Here are the benefits of the ingredients in the Mavericks Bowl:

Acai Berry
We all know there has been a major craze around Brazil's healing acai berry, but have you stopped to look into why? Acai is a heart-healthy berry packed densely with antioxidants.  Antioxidants help reverse oxidative damage done to cells, and can help to reverse or slow down the aging process.

Bananas
Bananas are high in magnesium, which helps build lean muscle.  Magnesium helps with protein synthesis and magnesium intake helps boost lipolysis, making bananas a great post-workout snack.

Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are super high in protein (4 grams of protein in 2 tbsp!), contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids, and are a great source of vitamins and minerals.

Coconut Water
Coconut water contains bioactive enzymes that can help boost your metabolism and aid in weight loss.  In addition, it is potassium-rich making it the perfect drink to help you recharge after the gym.

Coconut Milk
Coconut milk can help you fight viruses and bacteria, it contains lauric acid, antimicrobial lipids, and capric acid,  which all contain antiviral properties.  It also contains fatty acids that can help treat dry skin, helping you replenish moisture from the inside out.
