Meatless Monday Recipe: Crescent Moon Avocado with Miso Tahini Dressing, Pepitas and Nori

We eat with our eyes. When food looks beautiful, we take our time with it. Instead of scarfing it down, we pause for a moment to take it all in, observing it’s color, shapes and textures before diving in. By becoming more present with our food and savoring each and every bite, we enhance our digestion and prevent overeating because we are mindful in the meal.

Meatless Monday Recipe: Raw Vegan Cookie Dough Bites

Cookie. Dough. Two words that are so magical when they come together. Cookies are great but the raw dough straight out of the tub is a whole ‘nother ball park. Unfortunately, not only can it cause salmonella but it also is full of refined sugar, wheat, butter and other chemicals and additives that are not so fresh.

That is an extremely large number of people that unfortunately leave behind large numbers of waste.

Meatless Monday Recipe: Superfood Chocolate Truffles

Chocolate is one of the most divine tastes to (wo)man. In fact, the ancient Mayans and Aztecs literally called cacao the food of the Gods because it evoked such divine feelings. Cacao was believed to be a gift from the Gods after creation to provide us with universal wisdom and downloads, connecting us with our inner wisdom. It wasn’t just a crop but the sole most prized sacred medicines in Mayan and Aztec kingdoms.

Meatless Monday Recipe: Ayurvedic Cinnamon Toast Crunch Pudding

Meatless Monday Recipe: Ayurvedic Cinnamon Toast Crunch Pudding

I have a thing for pudding. Maybe it’s the Kapha in my Prakriti (Doshic combination I was born with), but I love anything soft and creamy with little-to-no chewing involved. Like I am down to be a baby again just to be fed spoons of baby-food. So I decided to make something reminiscent of my childhood Cinnamon Toast Crunch loventures except with the smooth, creamy textures of the puddings I love today.

Chai. Something about it is so delicious. It’s soothing, it’s warming, it’s flavorful. And best of all, it’s totally Ayurvedic. Chai is actually the word for “tea” in Hindi, Farsi and Arabic. The chai that we know today is the traditional Indian “chai masala” which is spiced Indian tea. Aromatic with flavors of cinnamon, ginger and cardamom, chai has taken the nation by storm. Almost every coffee shop has their version of a chai latte, which isn’t exactly the traditional Indian way but still delightful.

Recipe: Best Breakfast For Your Ayurvedic Dosha

Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, is all about breakfast. It is believed that the way you start your day is the way you will feel for the rest of the day. For example, if you hastily eat a bagel on your way to the office, you will feel unsettled and rushed for the rest of the day, making you more likely to mindlessly eat.
Meatless Monday Recipe: Holiday Brownies

Meatless Monday Recipe: Holiday Brownies

PSA: these brownies may be vegan but by no means are they health food. Don’t be fooled by the black beans and flax seed these babies will certainly satisfy your sweet tooth. The coconut milk and oil make them dense and gooey. I go for fudgey over cakey when it comes to brownies and this recipe really highlights that. I was in the mood for something extra decadent that could pass the holiday party test so I whipped up a coconut cream frosting. The frosting is where the guilty pleasure aspect of this dessert really comes into play. Four cups of powdered sugar may seem like an awful lot but it’s what makes the icing thick and fluffy. To be fair, whole wheat pastry flour, flax seed, and black beans do lend a fair amount of fiber to these which balances the heath scale just a little.
